On April 19th the WTCA held their Annual Awards Banquet sponsored the U.S. Armed Forces and Memphis MEPS, which administers ASVAB testing throughout the Mid-South. The event was held at the Airport Hotel & Conference Center. Music was provided by the Mid-South Navy Band. Our guest speaker was Lieutenant Colonel Sharon E. Presley, Commander of the 345 Recruiting Squadron, Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. Lt. Colonel Presley, a 1994 graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, highlighted the strong, long, and beneficial relationship the schools and the ASVAB program have enjoyed. Awards were presented to several counselors by the military for outstanding support of the ASVAB program. WTCA officers for the 2013-2014 year were installed and included Rita Wyatt-Wright, President, Dr Audrey Elion, President Elect, Joseph "Skip" Ruzicka, President Elect-Elect, Marjorie Johnson, Secretary, and Patricia King, Treasurer. The WTCA 2012-2013 Counselors of the Year were next presented by Kim Jessee, TASCA President. The Elementary School Counselor of the Year went to Margie Smidt, Middle School Counselor of the Year, Rita Wyatt-Wright, High School Counselor of the Year, Dr. Audrey Elion, Private Sector Counselor of the Year, Dr. Hattie Isen, and Lifetime Achievement Award to Mary London. Congratulations to all the awards winners and thanks for your outstanding service to the children you serve. A great time was had by all and we are looking forward to another great banquet next year!

WTCA's own Jo Ann Boyd, Past President, was recognized as Middle School Counselor of the Year for the state of Tennessee. She was presented this honor at the Tennessee School Counselor Association (TSCA) luncheon held at the annual Tennessee Counseling Association Conference in Nashville. Congratulations Jo Ann!

WTCA's Treasurer, Skip Ruzicka, was elected as Treasurer of the Tennessee School Counselor Association (TSCA) at this years state Tennessee Counseling Association conference in Nashville. He will begin serving a two year term of office in July. Congratulations Skip!

WTCA's Past President, Kim Jesse, will complete her term in office as President of the Tennessee School Counselor Association in July. Under Kim's leadership the state organization has continued to prosper and grow. Thank-you Kim for your service and dedication!
